Coming off a sixth-place finish in the 2011 NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) Standings, the Great Clips Racing team enters the 2012 season with great expectations.
Great Clips, which is currently the longest-running primary sponsor in the Nationwide Series, along with Turner Motorsports, is proud to announce that Kasey Kahne will increase his time behind the wheel of the No. 38 Great Clips Chevrolet in 2012 to compete in 15 NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) events. Up and coming driver, Brad Sweet, who has competed on a limited basis in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) for the last two years and in the USAC Sprint Car Series and World of Outlaws Series for Kasey Kahne Racing (KKR) for the last four seasons, will make a run for the Rookie of the Year title and will round out the balance of the 33-race NNS schedule when Kahne is not behind the wheel.
Joining Kahne and Sweet in 2012, Mike Shiplett has been added to the team’s roster of veteran crew chiefs to lead the No. 38 Great Clips team. It is a reunion of sorts for Shiplett and Kahne who were paired together in the NASCAR Nationwide Series during the 2007 season and put down impressive results including two victories.
The 2012 Great Clips Racing team will also field Kasey Kahne Racing's (KKR) World of Outlaws driver Joey Saldana. Great Clips has been a sponsor of KKR for the past two seasons on the #91 car with drivers Cody Darrah and Paul McMahan. In 2012, they will be a primary sponsor on the #9 entry with Saldana as well as an associate sponsor on Brad Sweet’s #49 and Cody Darrah’s #5 World of Outlaws cars.
About Great Clips Racing
Great Clips is currently the longest-running sponsor in the NASCAR Nationwide Series and has used the Nationwide Series as their primary marketing platform for the last 11 years. Their sponsorship began in 2000 with Akins Motorsports as they climbed on board to sponsor the team’s No. 38 entry with driver, Christian Elder. Mark Green piloted the No. 38 for one season before general manager, Doug Stringer, hired up-and-coming talent, Kasey Kahne, thereby solidifying Great Clips commitment to their NASCAR sponsorship.
